The Chalet is situated in the Lakeland village of Portinscale nestled on the shores of Derwentwater. A place where you can enjoy walks, hire boats and hop on the launches to and from Keswick.
Try one of the many Wainwright fell walks including the famous Catbells (which translates into shelter of the wild cat) the best views in the whole of the Lake District in my opinion. The village is a great base for the keen Lakeland adventurer or rambler alike.
In 2013 my wife and I redeveloped and upgraded the former tearooms and gift shop enabling us to provide an evening meal service.
We used local architects, contractors and builders, with materials such as Westmoorland green slate for the roof, wood from Low Bridge End Farm (St. Johns in the Vale) including Beech, Birch, Larch, Oak and even Conker trees!!
Cumbrian craftsmen designed and built the tables and chairs, bespoke carpenters from Low Moor Farm sourced and designed our Elm wood mirror. All helped to create The Chalet Tearooms and Restaurant.
